Metaplanet, often referred to as “Asia’s MicroStrategy,” has been steadily increasing its Bitcoin holdings since initiating its acquisition strategy in May 2023. The firm’s BTC Yield—a metric assessing the effectiveness of its Bitcoin acquisition strategy—surged to 310% in Q4 2024, up from 41.7% in Q3.
To fund these purchases, Metaplanet raised $60.6 million through two bond issuances earlier in December 2024. The company issued a 4.5 billion yen bond and a subsequent 5 billion yen bond, both maturing on June 16, 2025.
This strategic move aligns with Metaplanet’s rebranding efforts as a Bitcoin Treasury company, emphasizing its commitment to integrating Bitcoin into its financial strategy. The firm’s stock has experienced significant growth, rising over 2,100% in 2024 and reaching an all-time high of 4,080 JPY on December 17.
